I really dislike both fn's, they don't excite me at all. I love the mn's though. I'd switch them and use Grace Savannah and Hope Sophia.

They're nice names, objectively! They're a bit bland to read on this forum, but objectively, in the happen world, these are very nice picks. Savannah is a little sportier than Sophia. The virtue names in the middle are matchy but pleasantly so. Two of my favorite virtues.

I like Savannah and Sophia, but Sophia is way too popular for me. The sibset is fairly typical these days. I'd go with different middle names. Grace and Hope are very predictable as middle names these days. I like Hope, but Grace strikes me as too flimsy.

First of all, I don't think the styles match. Susanna and Sophia or Sabrina and Sophia have a more cohesive, classic feel, imo, than the modern Savannah paired with the classic and stately Sophia. Also, matching initials AND themey mns is a bit too much. In addition, there's the problem of Sophia being so massively popular. Still, in the broad scheme of things (and considering how heinous some combos are), Savannah and Sophia as a sibset isn't too bad.

individuality is most important for twinsIs she planning to dress them alike too?Developing their own identity is very important for twins. You sister should always encourage their individuality, which begins with giving them names that do NOT begin with the same letter or rhyme. And yes, yawn on the middle names.

I agree about them needing to be individuals...But I don't see why having names that start with the same first letter is such an individuality crusher. Lots of siblings have names that start with the same letter; I know a family where the four daughters all have the same initials, MDL. (Or they did till they all got married.) Monique Danielle, Melissa Dee, Melinda Deanne and Michelle Dawn. Their parents had the same initials too. It is a bit hokey (maybe a lot hokey.)
But Savannah and Sophia are quite different in style, and they certainly don't rhyme. Not like Savannah and Samantha, for instance. That would be hokey, and also be hard to distinguish by ear in a crowd or from a distance.

Totally agree. When we were told that we that we might be having twins (thankfully proven false) Alexander and I realized that the only names we like for girls started with M - Margaret and Miriam. Our top chose for a boy was Malcolm - boy/girl would have been Miriam and Malcolm. The first thing I thought was "Oh No! My kids will hate me." Until I realized just how many siblings share the same initials and lived through it trauma-free. It's not like it's Mimi and Miri or Dustin and Dusti.

I've mentioned this before, but, for new posters, my brother and I were Jean and John. Both of us liked our names. Actually, I know twins named Carol and Cheryl, who grew up happily, and on good terms with their parents.

my stepfather...Is Larry and his twin sister is Linda. They also grew up happy and normal, in spite of their same-letter names, and the fact that each had four or five other kids with the same name in school.

I was quite an age before I realized that twins need not be named Plinkety and Plunkety. I met a girl who had twins siblings named Claire and David, and I thought, "Can you do that?"Popular names-my daughter, Carol, was always one of 2 or 3 Carols (mostly spelled Carole) in the same class. The name was having a time of usage in the French-speaking community, which I hadn't realized, and anyway, my husband was completely charmed by the name..so pretty! So unusual! (He's from the Middle East.)

No! No! It can't be! *foams at mouth, head explodes*

I just hate this in general, siblings or twins. Variety is good.Melinda and Melissa would be way too close for my liking, especially since both are commonly shortened to Mel. Also all middle names beginning with the same letter? Tacky (and confusing for monogrammed stuff).

agree about Melissa and Melinda...Though I've only ever met one girl who was ever called Mel, and her name was Melanie. This Melissa's family pronounced her name Me-LEE-Sa, who knows why? She always pronounced it Melissa, the regular way, probably because she knew it was a losing battle to insist that people call her by her family's pronunciation. I think Melinda might have been called Mindy occasionally, but not in general.

How does she know they're identical before they're born? The names are both nice. I especially like Savannah. Sophia is not a favorite, but it is pleasant. It fits with Savannah but its style is quite different so they don't strike me as matchy-matchy names.
Grace and Hope as twin middle names are very cliched.

Sometimes identical twins share an amniotic sac and/or placenta, which doesn't happen with fraternal twins. If the doctor identified that they shared, then it is most likely they're identical.

I only ask...Because I've never heard anybody say they were going to have identical twins, just that they were having twins or twin boys.

My sister got pregnant using IVF and only one embryo was transferred into her womb.

They're good names. Popular, yes, but the girls may not mind that. Someone suggested Sophie rather than Sophia, and I agree, though I see what your sister is aiming at, with the two ah/a endings. And Grace and Hope? I'd be pleased to have either name. Wishing your sister and the babies good health!

I don't they think they suit in style, but they do in popularity. I like both names on their own.

I'll echo everyone else and say they're incredibly boring. Nothing wrong with them, but they're forgettable. Popular first name + popular middle name always puts me to sleep.

Beyond boring. Grace and Hope are way too cheesy for my tastes.

I get the need to do matchiness with twins names, but these middles are boring to say the least. They're so expected it's sad. Hope and Joy or Hope and Amity or anything else would be slightly better. Sophia is too popular for my taste and Savannah doesn't appeal to me at all.

As the others have said, they're rather boring and forgettable. I also think they're a bit similar in sound and therefore matchy, which I dislike.
Susannah and Sophie would be better in my opinion.

Nothing wrong with them, neither of them will really have problems getting through life with the names or anything, but they're pretty boring. Both separate and together. Really tired of seeing virtue names as a way to tie multiples together (plus Grace and Hope are overdone as middle names anyway). And I could probably see mom stumbling over their names if she calls them both at once.

I fell asleep reading the namesPretty, docile, forgettable.
