If it's the gray one in the photo, it's female. She looks like our cat Indy. Cool gray with creamier patches. It's a less-pigmented version of the tortoiseshell/calico pattern, orange and black, like the one on the left... cats have to be females to have both orange/cream and black/gray at the same time because the orange gene is on the X chromosome. (Well, unless they're XXY. Rare.)Mirfak doesn't really roll off the tongue...I'd wait to name her after meeting her. She might be shy, sly, irritable, hyper, funny, cozy ... you never know.Shakti

Very cool. Yes, she is a girl - good call. Thanks for the very nice suggestions. How is mirfak pronounced, anyway? I'm saying it like murphy, but mur-phak. sounds awful! but meer-fak really doesn't roll off the tongue at all.
