I realize that what I most lack in my naming ideas is a backup boy name in case I have B/B twins (or just brothers, though twins do run in my family and I hope to only have one pregnancy anyway).

So, I feel settled on Henry Charles as my go-to boy's name-- it has connections to both my SO's side of the family and mine.

What twin names would go along with the feel?

We do have Irish, English, Hungarian, Austrian and Polish roots, if that helps.

I don't have any more particular family names in mind that I want to honor.

My top picks right now are:

Liam
Stephen
Leon
Martin
Arthur (maybe MN only)
Lionel (MN?)
Vincent (MN?)
Rhys (MN?)

Any suggestions for combinations or other names that might work?

Cute name! Henry and Charles are both such classic english names, that I would definitely stick to that theme.

I really feel like James would make a perfect middle name for most of these... Martin James, Vincent James, Oliver James...

I love Rhys! It's my husbands name, and it's interesting and different while still being familiar enough for most people to manage. I also really like Vincent and Martin.

My top pick would be Rhys Vincent. Or, if you did have twins, maybe Henry Vincent and Rhys Charles? I think they flow really nicely.

Rhys Benjamin is handsome, and I love Vincent David, Vincent Maxwell, and Martin Alexander!

I really like your idea of using Rhys as a FN and splitting up Henry and Charles.

I am currently liking the idea of using Rhys and Liam as first names, because they both have a more contemporary vibe, and leaving the slightly stuffy and historic Henry and Charles for middle names:

Stephen and Henry would be wonderful brothers!

There's also Richard. Richard Arthur or Stephen James. Or Andrew Rhys.

Thanks... Stephen has been a name I admired for a long time.

Richard is a good idea. I mentioned elsewhere that I was considering using my mom's family surnames -- Browning and Richardson as MNs. But maybe Richard is better than Richardson.

Thanks. I have been kind of experimenting with Leon vs. Leo vs. another form of that name. I think Leon looks nice.

Also my SO and I listened to a lot of Kings of Leon when we started dating. :)

I would go with:

Arthur Vincent & Henry Charles. I don't think your other names fit very well.

I also like Simon and Theodore and Philip, though we probably wouldn't use Simon and Theodore because of religious dimensions of the names (long story but my SO has been kind of burned out by religious ultra conservatives)... And Philip is handsome but it was an ex's name.

Stephen Rhys and Martin Rhys are my favorites of these combinations.

I haven't thought about Richard much, but another idea I had was to use two surnames from my mom's side of the family as middle names--

Browning and Richardson. However, I am not sure if Richardson sounds quite right there.
Charles Browning and Henry Richardson?

I just started liking Arthur recently-- might be after teaching some high school literature featuring King Arthur and ending with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. :)

I've always loved Henry and Oliver together. WDYT of Oliver Stephen? Oliver Thomas?

Of your list, I like Stephen, Arthur and Rhys best. I like Leon too -- it's just that I like Leo so much better. WDYT of Leo Vincent or Leo Rhys?

None of them go as well as splitting up the combo and calling them Henry ____ and Charles ____.

I'd vote for Vincent as the first name, if you can't do that.
Second choices: Martin and Stephen
I don't like Liam & Henry or Leon & Henry. Maybe Leon called Leo.
Arthur works with Henry but I don't like that name personally.

I am thinking I might go that way, or make those the middle names.

Charles would be their father's mn, and grandfather's FN.
It might be confusing having the same FN and LN as the grandfather, anyway.
