[Opinions] Opinions on Pandora
Pandora falls somewhere in between Persephone or Artemis and Lilith or Eve; mythological and evil connotations. I know Pandora isn't everyone's cup of tea but I want to hear opinions on it. I'm still trying to decide if I like it or not, so I can be swayed either way if you argue hard enough. If I do decide I like it, I would probably use it as a middle, but I would love to hear your opinions first. Thanks!

I like it. The only issues I have are that it's become a bit of a noun (the music site, and I think a few other companies are called Pandora). In theory though, I like it and I'd definitely like to meet someone named Pandora.
Actually I might be willing to use it. It's manageable (especially with the nickname Dora) and not hard to spell. I don't think it has too much of an evil connotation to me, more like "curious".

I really like Pandora. It has a magical feel which I adore. I probably wouldn't use it though, one of the reasons is Avatar (the planet they're on is called Pandora if I remember correctly) and then there's Pandora's box.
I personally don't care about the Pandora's box thing, but I'm afraid others would associate it with that and make comments about it. And because of that, Pandora is better of as a (great) middle name.

I love the name Pandora, especially with the nn Panda. I would use it as a first name if I didn't love Theodore so much. I don't find the association to be bad or evil (same goes for Eve, Lilith, Persephone, and Artemis). I wouldn't let some clearly misogynistic and fictional texts sway your opinion. Hitler is a bad association, but a curious girl isn't. That's all she was, curious, not malicious. Besides, imo, the Gods were the evil, ruthless ones, not poor Pandora.
I've also never heard of the brands mentioned by other users, but even if I had, I wouldn't let them dictate my name list. The Greek myth gives the name so much history that a brand seems silly and inconsequential in comparison. With all the Embers and Indias and Nevaehs and who knows what else, is Pandora really that weird? My baby brother goes to school with a Falcon and a Maverick, so I highly doubt kids today would bat an eyelash at Pandora.
I happen to know two Pandoras in real life (my boss and a university professor), and they rock their names. Fun fact: Box is a mistranslation. The evil spirits were contained in a large storage jar, not a box.

I see what you're seeing, but I think its completely different. Its a major music channel, which is what most people would associate it with. I also foresee sexual tinged "Pandora's box" references.
Not for me.
Not for me.
I'm not a fan, really, but not because I think the mythological character is evil. It's more that Pandora, over the last few years, has started to feel too much like a brand name. It's okay as a middle name.
Exactly.

This ^^
It has been taken over by branding. I'd leave it to the mn spot.

I like the history and meaning of the name, I dont consider it necessarily bad or evil. She stands for mans curiosity which without it where would we be? To me the fact that she was the first mortal woman created by Zeus and she was entrusted with "the box" is an accomplishment and because she opened it she was an example of human nature. IDK I just hold it in the negative realm.
However I dont like the name :( not due to the associations but the sound doesnt flow to me. Two household items are found in the first 2 syllables. Pan and Door then you just throw an A at the end. I just cant go for it.
I would prefer just Dora or even Pandy
