[Opinions] Summer
I'm crushin' on Summer at the moment. Thoughts? What would you pair it with? "What matters most is how well you walk through the fire." -Charles Bukowski

It's cute, but I definitely don't think it works for a boy...

Summer Grace
Summer Rose
Summer Jade
I like the shorter middle names with it...

I always think of it as a little airhead-ish and weird, but it's an association thing. There was a girl at my elementary school who decided she wanted to be called Summer in the third grade, and it wasn't her middle name or anything. She fit the above description. Her mother worked in the cafeteria and refused to call her anything but Jessica (her real name).I think it's pretty though it pairs well with longer older sounding names I think.Summer Jacobine

My absolute favorite combo with Summer, that is so unusable it makes me want to cry, is Summer June. I just love the sound, the vibe, everything. Except that, you know...Summer June. Others that I think are almost as nice:
Summer Celeste
Summer Louise
Summer Elise
Summer Kate
Summer Niamh
Summer Genevieve
Summer Grace (ehh but so wordy)
Summer Kathleen
Summer Eliza
Summer Elaine
Summer MoniqueI like it on boys as well:
Summer Luke
Summer Michael
Summer Jude (almost as good as Summer June!)
Elijah Summer
William Summer

Summer is on my list. I'm very fond of it but not sure if I'd use it as a first name. I love the connotations of warmth, blue skies, and fun.Summer Alexandra is my favourite combo. Or Summer Elena. :)

I love the name Summer! I love how it sounds. But I'm not crazy about the season. I love the season autumn, but not the name Autumn. It may seem silly, but I don't think I'd want to use Summer because I wouldn't want people to get the idea that I love the season. But I wouldn't want to use the name Autumn because I think it's ugly.Actually, I prefer the spelling Somer, even though it's surnamey and I'm the first one to dump on surnames for girls. This is an exception. Somer just seems southern-belley to me. It seems really nineteenth century. I can see it on a nineteenth century girl in a way I can't other surnames. I guess that's why I like it. But I've found that few others like the spelling Somer. But I do.

There's a woman who does good embroidery blogs - cross-stitch and quilts but other stuff too - called Summer Louise. I've never liked Summer, but Summer Louise sounds and looks so beautiful that I found my opinions changing. Then I saw that she actually goes by Summer. Pity!

Summer would have been my third daughter, had Gideon not come along. My other girls have three-name combos, so my Summer would probably have been Summer Siena Nightingale or Summer Siena Serenissima.I totally do word name combos, but not just.Summer Aria

I like it and playing with middle names is on my "to do" list. Quite some time back now, I think it was Bear who suggested/posted Summer Elena and I thought that was so warm and elegant and just about perfect. Don't know that I can come up with anything I like as much but, if I do, I'll come back.

I really like the name Summer. I hated to like it at first, but since knowing two different women named Summer I decided just to go ahead and admit, it's very pleasant and namey and doesn't really come off as too hippy or trendy for me.It's hard to make combos with since I think the -er blends badly with a lot of initial letters.Summer Ellen
