I like both of them. They both do still have a somewhat dated feel, but I think of it as more retro myself. Dated to me are names that are either recently stale (80s-90s) or names that won't likely come back (
Ethel,
Gertrude, etc.) Retro names, to me, fall in the 30s-70s period and are typically "grandma" names, but still have an element of style or an appeal.
Basically, I think they're usable. I've met a teenaged
Hazel and a 10-year-old
Iris as well as a toddler
Iris, so people are using them (sparingly.) Personally, I like the nature connection of them.
