[Opinions] Victoria (m)

I do like Julia but I love Victoria and find it quite a lot preferable to Julia. It sounds more elegant and more sophisticated than Julia, it's more regal, and also it has a historical connection with the Queen that Julia doesn't have. It's stronger than Julia, yet it doesn't sacrifice a bit of its femininity to be strong, it's just as feminine as Julia but with much more strength.
This doesn't so much apply any longer perhaps, but I know that when I named my daughter Victoria in 1982, I never considered Julia and wouldn't have because Julia's French form, Julie, was a fairly popular name in my generation and I wouldn't have wanted to use a name that was popular in my generation. There's little difference between Julia and Julie. That would have been one reason, but even that aside, I'd find Victoria better.
