[Opinions] Marina?
I would like your thoughts on the name Marina. Do you think of it as a usable name or does it remind you of a boat dock (guilty)?♥ Rate my list ♥

I love Mar- names, and I love the sea, so I like it.

I like it, and I think it's totally usable. It's actually one of my best friend's name. As far as I know she has never had a problem with the boat dock association- in fact, when people mishear her name when she introduces herself she uses that as a way to explain her name! ("Marina?" "Yeah, you know- where they keep the boats.") I like that it's used internationally and yet isn't very common here. It's also got a pretty sound, and the boat dock thing isn't really a bad association. Many people love the water and would consider it a very positive association.

I love it!It's usable. I think it's Marine that's more to worry about unless you live in a French-speaking country, where Marine is a very common name. (I have three female friends named Marine, and my mom's older sister has a stepdaughter named Marine.)

I like Marina a lot, and definitely think of it as human. It is used without causing comment in South Africa, probably because Marinus is also pretty ordinary, though neither of them was ever megapopular. And I know a Marina who was named after her father, Marinus.Of the two, I do prefer Marinus and would use it quite happily. That's the only reason I wouldn't use Marina!

I LOVE MarinaIt reminds me of the water (which is a good association for me), but not boat docks in particular. I would totally use it. It's beautiful and uncommon and I love that it's used in so many languages.

I used to love Marina. I think it is usable, but it does make me think of where people keep boats.

Marina's my #1 right now despite the boat dock association. It's been a name for a very, very long time so that doesn't bother me. My fave combos are: Marina Charlotte, Marina Juliet and Marina Francesca.

Marina is usable, and I love it to death, but I admit I have asked myself the same question. Just be careful to avoid combining it with word names. A combo like Scarlett Marina or Marina Robin only emphasizes the wordiness of Marina.

I like Marina and I think of it as a name that ages well and I think of a sweet beautiful girl.

I think it's a pretty name with a nice sound, and I don't think people would automatically think of boat docks. I think it's usable.

I think it's a very pretty name, and it's well-known enough that nobody is likely to think "What are they doing naming their kid after a damn boat dock?"
