I've recently come to realize that Salome gets little to no usage among Anglophones (at least in modern times) and seems to be considered unusable, though in other languages, such as French, Portuguese, and German, Salome is a perfectly acceptable name for a girl. The association with the daughter of Herodias is probably to blame for the former, but there is a second, non-evil person with this name in the Bible and their names seem to be the same regardless of language.

Does anyone have any sort of explanation as to why English-speakers do not name their daughters Salome but speakers of many other European languages do?
