[Opinions] Twin baby girls
Our newspaper featured a story about newborn twin girls named Knatalye Hope and Adeline Faith. It took me a while to realize Knatalye, which I would pronounce nat-uh-LIE, probably is supposed to be Natalie. In my opinion, Adeline definitely was dealt the better hand.Comments?

Oh dear. Did the parents already choose a favourite because they clearly don't like Knatalye. If spelled properly the names are fine. The Hope and faith thing is a little corny but in the middle name spot it's bearable. I like both names separately anyway.

I really like Natalie, but that spelling is ugly. I think I heard somewhere that in the first half of the 20 century the ye ending was in fashion, so you had stuff like Sadye and Bettye and Rubye.
I don't like Adeline, and what's more I never know how it's supposed to be pronounced. I grew up saying (when I ever had to say it at all) Add-a-line. But now Add-a-Lyn seems to be the way to go. If this Adeline is the Add-a-lynn pronunciation, then it's going to be easily misheard as Natalie.

Knatalye is absolutely hideous! As bad as the spelling is (I thought it was pronounced ke-na-TAL-yuh), it never occurred to me that the pronunciation is the same as Natalie. WTH???Little Adeline lucked out. It's so bizarre that one child gets a completely traditional name while with the other, it's as if the parents said, "Who cares about this one? You're on your own, kid."

Gnatalye would have been funnier. Gnat for short. LOL.I love Natalie, but yeah, Adeline is sure better than that monstrosity of a spelling.Lame-o middle name theme.

I never get these twin sets, where one name is lovely, and the other is either a terrible name or (as in this case) a shocking spelling of a perfectly good name.

My first thought was to pronounce it kna-TAL-ye, with a non-silent K, as it didn't look like English at all. Then I got to Hope and Adeline Faith and realized that it was probably Natalie ...

They are very mismatched to me. I wonder if each twin was named by a different parent.

Ugh! Why not just spell it Natalie. Natalie and Adeline would be nice.

That's an odd combo. Poor Knatalye got the shaft.

Agreed!

Oh no, why? At first I was thinking that "gnat" was spelled "knat" and I had a stronger reaction, but still. This is awful. Adeline is so nice. Adeline and Natalie would be perfectly acceptable, even tasteful, twin names.

It's always good to learn of twins safely arrived, but..poor Knatalye! Luckly she has Hope!
