To me it is mostly a tree name, and a tiny bit place name (Aspen, Colorado). It's an outdoorsy, gender-neutral "nature name" on a person. To me it's unisex. I'd have a slightly bigger expectation that Aspen is a boy, probably influenced by a men's cologne named Aspen, but I think it suits a girl well - it's pretty and unusual. - chazda

I think it's absolutely lovely, but I don't think I'd use it - it might be too unusual. As a mn I really like it.

I don't like how it starts in the sound "ass."

I don't like it. I like Astra and Astrid, though. Aspen just screams "parents who wished they had the money to go there" to me.Array

I think it's very pretty, though I'd never actually use it.

I think this is a beautiful name, but I only like it on a girl.

I don't like it on a boy, even less on a girl...

Love it

If it weren't a trendy resort town it might be OK as a name. It sounds nice. But as a rule, though, I don't like place names, and Aspen is particularly silly - sort of like Dakota or Sierra. Very soap-opera-y.
