What does everyone think of
Nessa, my most recent name crush? I confess that I was initially wary of the name because I thought it was merely a diminutive of
Vanessa (no, there's nothing objectively wrong with favoring diminutives over full names; yes, I am vulnerable to the conceit that diminutives are insubstantial as given names), but deeper investigation revealed the name's roots in Irish mythology. I just find it gossamer and delicate, but not immaterially so.
