[Opinions] Joni
What are your thoughts on the nickname Joni? Would it work as a nickname for Josephine? Johanna, maybe, or perhaps another name? I'm not a particularly big Joni Mitchell fan or anything, I simply find the spelling more versatile than Joanie, as I don't think I could bring myself to use Joan. Ever.
So, yes, throw any thoughts you have at me :) Much obliged!

I'm a HUGE Joni Mitchell fan, so for me it's really a positive name. I think it works for Johanna or Joanna, but not for Josephine (I prefer Josie).
Woah, brilliant thoughts there. I love making unexpected but still logical nicknames and Joni for Josephine or Johanna totally fits the bill.
My thoughts on the nickname itself: It's great. I don't like Joni or Joan as full names, but Joni as a nickname is fun and pretty rare.
Also
Joanne nn Joni
Jolana nn Joni
Jolanta nn Joni
Jolene nn Joni
Jonelle nn Joni
Josiane nn Joni
Jovana nn Joni

I thought you wanted to know if it would fly as a full name... to which my response would have been "keep it to the nicknames".
I love J-names so I come up with tons of nns for them. I prefer nicknames that do not double as full names (i.e. Joan), with a few exceptions (Rain) - so Jonie fits right in.
It's pretty cute and short. I think Johanna, nn Joni would be adorbs. For Josephine I like Josie or Joss better.
Joanie is too cumbersome to me, and Jonie is cutsy but the extra e is not really necessary if you don't like it.

It's alright. It doesn't strike me as extra lovely but it's fine as a nickname. It's pretty cute. For some reason it makes me think of cheap earrings but that's probably just me.
I think it would work as a nickname for any name that starts with Jo, tbh. I have a soft spot for Josephine but I like Joey more.
Joanie I think could only be from Joan. Joan is a very Enid Blyton name. It seemed she was always calling characters Joan!
I read a book the other day that had a Jane nn Janey in it. Just throwing it out there.

I guess it could work for Joanna or Johanna, and at a stretch, for Josephine. But I don't like it at all. It's a cutesy-poo, flaky variation of the heavy, sullen, dull Joan.
