It sounds like the arabic subban, wich means "the exalted". Over the years names change from different spelling but sound the same. Aribic is the only language with that word, many people travel, languages mix, but the origin stays the same.

A Turkish version maybe? Compare Arabic Zaynab, Turkish Zeynap. Officially Arabic doesn't have a letter P, but we find Arabs with Turkish names, e.g. Pachachi, which I believe, Iraqis pronounce "Bajaji".

There is the name Zuppan which is used in Austria. I believe it is of Hungarian or Slovakian origin, an definately of easter european origin
