Hmm okay. Somebody I know has a friend in Sri Lanka who's a girl and has the name Nilupa, which is why I assumed it was feminine.

A quick search on Facebook showed people of both genders with a given name of Nilupa. If anything, I saw more females than males there.
(There are so many people on Facebook nowadays, and mostly with their real names, that it's usually quite useful to search for names there to see whether they really exist and whether they are male or female.)
