[Opinions] Jacoby
I'd actually never heard of this name before this week, but I immediately liked it. It's not as popular as Jacob, which I like as well, and I think the y actually adds something to the name. Do you pronounce it JAK-oh-bee or Ja-KOH-bee? What do you think of the name in general?Mommy to Myrtle Nola (22-10-2012) and baby due 25-05-2015

Where I live, it's a surname, spelt Jacobi and pronounced ja KOH bee in English and yah KOOuh bee in Afrikaans. I associate it with rather down-market popular/country music. I've never seen it used as a fn; Jacob is rare among English-speakers and Jakobus or Jacobus is widely used by Afrikaans-speakers. Out of all of them, I prefer Jakobus but would never use it unless I'd married into an Afrikaans family.

I love Jacoby, pronnounced Ja-KOH-bee. As you said it's not so popular as Jacob which is a plus, but it's not unheared of which is another plus.

I'd pronounce it ja-KO-bee. It was the surname of one of my friends in high school. It was mispronounced as JAY-ka-bee all the time.I like it. I think it would make a handsome middle name.
