Isn't it interesting that a lot of these misguided posters who rant about people hating on their names are so offended my negative opinions about a name they (most likely) did not choose? I would find it more logical for them to complain if they found negative comments about a name they had given their child, not their own name. Hmmm.

I agree. While I love my own name, I know plenty who do not. I also would never have named myself this name given the choice.
It's a psychological phenomenon that people relate and defend things that are familiar. It's called an Availability Heuristic. Nothing is really more personally linked to who you are than your name... so it kinda makes sense that some people take it personally if we are not crazy about their name choice.
That doesn't make it logical though.
