Is this a combination of French feminine name Melisande and some other name, like Andre? It's not in the name banks...

You're probably right, but I would guess it's got Alexandre in there somewhere ... Melisande + Alexandra? Andre would be a stretch because of the blend of male and female, though that doesn't stop some parents!
