Ilan is nice, and I prefer that spelling to Elan (which looks more like it should be pronounced more like "
Ellen").
Wolfram feels very much like a surname, and also immediately brings to mind
Wolfram & Hart, Attorneys at
Law from the tv series '
Angel' (a law firm founded by demons). It's really not a positive association.
Wolfram as a first name feels like an older, rich & powerful man in a suit, probably sitting at a dark wood desk in his dark wood office with old leather-bound books on his dark wood bookshelves.
Orson, again, feels like a surname, but without any negative associations. And of course there's
Orson Welles. It's got a cute meaning, imo. :)
Despite its rather nice original meaning, Salem has very strong witch trials associations. :/ I think Jerusalem would be a more usable and a less unfortunate alternative.
