Hepsie and Hep C have slightly different emphasis when you say them and I don't think it would cause that much problem IRL. (Hepsie has the accent strongly on the first syllable and Hep C has similar emphasis on both syllables.)

I like it as a nickname to Hepzibah, which I find pretty cool. I don't think it works so much on it's own.

It's cute, until you think of the Hep C thing and then the name is totally ruined! I much prefer Hephzibah and would only use that as a mn anyway, because people would be forever pronouncing and spelling it incorrectly! Hattie and Effie do nothing for me, but Essie is sweet.

Yeah, I immediately thought Hepatitis C upon hearing this name. Not good at all.

I get it, and I like the sound of it, but I just see an STD. My first thought was Herpes, then Hep C.

Hepsie is so cute but it's way, way too similar to use.

It's on my excel list. I have always liked Hepzibah, and loved that Hepsie was the go-to nickname. I think both are usable to be honest. Hepsie is, as you said, just as quirky and dated as Effie and Essie... which no one would bat an eye at.

Yes, and it also sounds like a soda. Remember in the book "Stuart Little" when Stuart stops for a soda at a little store and the owner rattles off a long list of the soads he has? "Pepsi Cola, Popsy Cola, Moxie Cola, Dipsy Cola ..." Hepsie Cola fits right in.

The first thing that came to my mind was Pepsi. According to media someone named their poor daughter Pepsi-Carola here (they originally wanted to name her Pepsi-Cola)and Hepsie reminds me of this story.

Hepsie? I'm sorry, but this made me laugh out loud. It sounds very funny. Maybe it isn't so funny in English, but anyone in my area would agree with me.
