[Opinions] Liv is a Scandinavian formal name in itself, not a nn
in reply to a message by Isla
Liv is indeed pronounced as "leave" and means "life".But I guess Americans use it as a nn for Olivia, then pronounced with a short I-sound (Livv).Leo and Lucy are also formal names in themselves. Lucy is not more a nn than Mary is a nn for Maria."But it’s all right now.

I knew about Leo and Lucy, but I was having a hard time coming up with examples. :b And they are sometimes used as nn's for Leonard/Leonardo and Lucille/Lucinda, respectively. I also knew Liv was a name on its own, but I just "assumed" it was also pronounced with a short "i". :-/~Heather~
