[Opinions] Archibald
This is one of my favorite names of all time, and I MAKE NO APOLOGIES.Anyway, thoughts? I love its walrus-mustache, top-hatted, monocle-wearing, cigar-smoke-reeking old-timey-ness. I know it's ugly, but I don't care. It's dynamic. Willoughby wolloughby willina, an elephant sat on Billina.

It's so over the top, isn't it? I appreciate what it is, and probably because of the comics I just love Archie.I feel similarly (in the way that it seems like an exaggeration, not that it gives me the exact same impression) about Reginald. It's so slimy and and arrogant and just ridiculous; I love it for being so gross.

I do like it and I do get why you like it. I prefer Archer but Archibald is pretty cool =)

I agree about the dynamism. Archibald should be a double Oxford (or Cambridge) blue who became a World War I pilot like Snoopy, with a long scarf. And go home to Scotland afterwards, and fish for salmon and toss cabers. And he'd be known as Archie, not to avoid the Baldie-type sniggers but just for speed and convenience.

I adore it! My maternal grandfather was named Arnold Archibald, and he went by Archie.

It's got a silly vibe I can't get past, unlike that of, say, Leopold.

The word "bald" is in it. Nuff said.

I love Archibald. So much better than Archie on its own, and so much nicer than Archer. It is a little ugly, but I think it's ugly-cute. Like a pug.Love that walrus imagery! Usually I see knights and freedom fighters when I think of Archibald, now I'm just seeing an armored walrus jousting atop a horse.

Very popular here!Archibald and Archie are getting so popular here! I know 4 Archibald's under the age of 3! I know probably another half dozen Archie's! So it's definitely not regarded as old and fusty here! (Australia)I love it and I wanted to use it as my great-uncle and great-grandfather were named Archibald, however there is too many for my liking now!

I think it has a steampunk/neo-victorian vibeI like it. I also like Ichabod and Oswald / Waldo, and in my mind Archibald falls into the same category: very out of style but also wacky and weirdly classic.Archer is sort of popular right now, too, so nicknames Arch and Archie are more mainstream than they would be otherwise.

Sorry, but to me it sounds like a rich, fat, mean owner of a plantation or a cotton mill, harassing the workers and smoking big cigars.

I feel the same way about Ferdinand. It's reached the point of being so out of fashion that it's quaint, and I love a bit of quaint. Archibald could be really fun to come across! Plus it's got the much more user-friendly Archie. Ferdinand doesn't even have that! It's fab. I endorse Archibald.
