OMG!!! I completely overlooked Remington & Maverick! Wow. That's a buddy cop movie duo also.
Link definitely reminds me of Link from Zelda. And Auron is a Final Fantasy X character, so I guess maybe the parents like vidja games... a lot.
They would fit in very well with Star Trek universe though (along with A'lan, easily a Klingon).
