It's an okay name

I think Tamara is very pretty. I've known two. The first pronounced it tuh-MAHR-uh which is lovely, however, there were those who thought her mom was saying 'tomorrow.' The other Tamara (dh's cousin) pronounces it tuh-MARE-uh which I don't care for at all. Anyway, she goes by Tammy.

Tamara is a name I've contemplated using yet when it comes right down to it, I probably wouldn't because it feels somewhat dated, I'd be concerned about the pronunciation issue, and I really dislike the nn Tammy. Still, I'd be pleased to meet a young Tamara.

it's very pretty. A little ambiguous as to pronunciation, which is always a big strike against a name. I've known several, most of whom went by Tammy. Most pronounce it Ta-Mahr-A,but I've also heard it to rhyme with camera, and like Ta-Mare-a.

I really love it! It sounds fancy/regal and weird without being actually weird. I know it use to be (?) a popular name, but I've never met anyone named Tamara so it's really interesting to me.

I prefer Tamora (http://www.behindthename.com/name/tamora/submitted). Mostly because I'm always inclined to pronounce Tamara in a way I don't like that much (tuh-MAYR-uh), but also because of the badass Shakespearean antagonist.

she could go by Tam,Tammy, Mara, or Amy

My initial impression is that it's dated, but I don't dislike it.

Super pretty and I can't really think of anything negative about it. It sounds sort of like "tomorrow", but I actually kind of like that about it? I mostly like that it's a name that spans so many cultures/languages.
