Aw, I think it's adorable.

I don't particularly like Ylvi. It's a bit too cutesy. I'd prefer Elvi or Ylva.

I agree that Ylva is more complete. Though I would probably have called her Ylvi as a nickname anyway. Short names are darling, so it caught my fancy. I wouldn't use it though.

Would it be common in Austria? It looks kind of other-planet-ly.
I'm guessing it's pronounced Elvie?

close... iLL-vie. capitals just so you can tell what letter it is. I don't think it is that common ins Austria, but I do know a few ladies named Ylva so I assume it is a cutesy shortening like Maddie instead of Madeline, etc.

I´m not surprised too much. Here´s currently a real fashion name and is intended to mean small wolf. In my opinion, however, a completely fictitious and the series matching first name, one of my favorite children´s series.
Take a look at Wickie und die starken Männer/and the strong men, if you want.

Wickie and his little sister Ylvi. The spelling Ylvie or Ilvy are also very popular, pronounciation Ill-vee.
