Max and James couldn't be happier that they added to their family through adoption, James was initially terrified but quickly came to love and protect Lyra more than anybody. The older children too have adapted to welcoming an adopted sibling well, helping to rename her made them feel a part of the process and they were old enough to understand the process of bringing Lyra home.
