Addison, I think. But barely. They both suck bigtime.

I dislike Abigail, which makes me think of Abby, which makes me think of Addy. Which is better than Minusy or Timesy, but still not good.
Madeline, with that spelling, was used in my family in the 1890s - the one I know about was named Madeline May and always called May, so I've got no Maddy associations. I'd choose Madison, though, if absolutely necessary, because of it not being Addison!

It's not that bad. Now that I've met a couple of them and the memory of the stupid mermaid is fading. I sometimes think people resent it because it's kind of nice, and they don't want it to be nice. Alison + Madeline.
Addison is bad IMO, because of the disease and because to me it sounds like an ugly distortion of Alison.
