Name-wise, just about anything goes, so asking if Clyde could still be a name today isn't very helpful.
For myself, I sure wouldn't want Clyde to be my first name.

At least it's a compliment. But Clyde sounds like a big, clumsy, messy person who is always causing accidents. Like a clod, only worse.
