I LOVE it. Really love it. I could call my daughter Magdalena. But I think I need to be really lucky to find a father for my child to like it, as it may give a heavy feeling. But I think it makes great nicknames. Lena

I like Magdalena. It is a bit heavy, but I probably wouldn't use it as a first name anyway because I don't really care for the nicknames Magda or Lena. I think I would pair it with another "heavy" feeling name otherwise it would just look incompatible. Maybe Eva Magdalena, Magdalena Dorothea, Ingrid Magdalena, Magdalena Bernadette, or Roberta Magdalena, etc.

It's way too heavy, and clunky, and it goes on and on and on until the people its owner is introducing herself to have all fallen asleep.Seriously, I can't imagine using Magdalena when there's brisk and pretty Magdalen waiting in the wings. I'd use Magdalen any day, and Magdalena never.

I think it's lovely! I like its heaviness.Magda and Magdalene also appeal to me.

My cousin has a Magdalene. We also considered Magdalene. I do think Magdalena is a bit much but it's still a beautiful name.

It's alright but I like Magdalene better.

It's not really my cup of tea, but I much prefer it to Madeleine and all its variations. It's more graceful I think.

I prefer Madeline, or Magdalene for an older person. Although, I guess I could get behind Magdalena. It does have a prettier sound the more I say it out loud...

I quite like it, although I prefer Maddalena and Magdalene. I find it a bit awkward to say, but I think it's a gorgeous name, long, but not frilly, with personality and substance.

Yes, I think it's too heavy. I dislike Lena and Magda as well as Leni and Madge so I can't even think of nicknames I would like for it. It has a heavy sound and for some reason I always imagine a really mean person :/I much prefer Magdalene which is much softer as well as Madeline. I also vastly prefer the Italian Maddalena or the Romanian Madalina over it.

What about nns Maggie and Mags?

Not a fan of either, but they work as nicknames for Magdalena. Hmmm I guess it's just not my thing. But if you like it, go for it! It is a classic and underused.
