[Opinions] Backstreet Boy BA
AJ and his wife Rochelle recently welcomed their second daughter! She joins Ava Jaymes McLean (4), and her name is...Lyric Dean.I love Lyric and Ava, but while both middles are the same as AJ's and Rochelle's, I think they're trying too hard.Rate my PNLs! (updated 3/3/17)

did they think about how Dean McLean sounds at all? Why not use Deanna, since that's his wife's actual middle name? I kind of get adding the y to Jaymes to "feminize" it but why did they masculinize a name for a girl? Lyric's fine. A little cliche for a singer.

Some people do NOT consider middles... which is sad. My own name was HeidiJoy Gioia. Gioia is pronounced joy-uh. Joy joy uh. Yeah.

Lyric: The baby name pseudo-musicians use to show the world they are AR-TEESTS.

EXCUSE ME??? PSEUDO-MUSICIANS??? I know...people have different tastes in music, but calling a member of a band that has been together for over 20 years, pseudo?!Sorry if my reaction was too strong. I'm just a loyal fan, is all...

Boy band = yesMusicians = noI'm not saying they're not talented, but they are not what I would typically call "musicians". They don't play instruments or write their own songs. They're a boy band.

Your voice is an instrument. Popular misconception. It takes just as much practice to hone a singing voice as a horned or stringed instrument. I am not saying these guys are amazing or that I am a fan, but they are definitely musicians. To me, saying that a singer is not a musician is akin to saying someone is not a chef just because he cooks diner food.

I work as a cook and I have never gone to culinary school, so you could say I'm on par with someone who cooks diner food. Would you call me a chef? Not arguing with you, I'm genuinely curious. And I don't even care about BSB, anymore. ;)ETA: Are you talking about an actual, trained chef choosing to cook diner-like food, or you know, a diner cook ? I can no read. :P

I meant a person who trained to be a chef.My brother is a Master Chef. He worked as a cook in his teens but wouldn't have called himself a chef because he lacked the experience, practice and skills. However, even if he is cooking burgers in the backyard now... he is still a chef. I think that trained singers (even if they are in a boy band) can be musicians. That is not to say that everyone who sings is a musician. In the same way that I can play the violin, but I am not a musician because I never took the time to learn the skill. Ah, it's all semantics and I was in an especially picky mood yesterday. I just took voice lessons in college and was shocked at the difficulty. I can sing... but I won't ever put in the time to become a singer. Bleh.

No biggie. I'm not being fair when I judge true musicians on whether or not they play instruments or write their own songs, especially since some of my favorite artists DON'T write their own songs and have amazing voices. I always referred to them as "singers", though, never "musicians". You're right, it's all semantics.

Okay, sorry. I can see where you're coming from.

I think Ava is okay, but only relatively speaking and only just okay. Jaymes is dumb, I don't care if it is "honoring." The spelling alone is dumb, boy or girl.
Lyric has always sounded ugly. And Dean is ugly for either sex.
Also, they got two girls with middle names Jaymes and Dean. James Dean.

Ha! Never thought of it that way...
