OctaviaOctavia is pretty. Ophelia isn't. It just sounds unnatractive & klunky and sounds sexual when said a certain way. Also Octavia just LOOKS more attractive compared to the other

OctaviaOctavia, which I do like. I like Ophelia too, but I'd avoid it because of "I feel ya".

OctaviaAlthough Ophelia is growing on me very rapidly, Octavia still has a huge place in my heart. It's my top name for a future daughter and has been that way for quite a while. I first heard it on a TV programme that now - with season 4 looming - I am totally obsessed with. The character is badass and while Octavia itself is more syllables than I normally go for and could be seen as quite "frilly", I think it's got some hard sounds in there that pack a punch and make it fiery - which is what I look for in a girl's name.

OpheliaAwesome literary association (I don't care that its sad), pretty and flowy. I also don't really like the number 8 association with Octavia or the fact that its basically a male name made feminine (Octavian).

Neither. Octavia is harsh and Ophelia is too dramatic and had a sad fate. I could never use it for that reason. For someone else definitely Ophelia. It is just softer, more beautiful and kind of close to Olivia. Octavia is so harsh and there aren't any good nicknames for it. Ophelia is soft and works on its own.

OctaviaDefinitely Octavia for me. I love her strength and almost warrior like feel. Ophelia's pretty, whimsical, tragic, but just doesn't quite cut it, partly because 'offal' always comes to mind when I hear it.

OctaviaOphelia I like more than I used to and the same is true with Octavia, I just prefer Octavia.Octavia still reminds me of the word octave but I don't see that as a negative anymore. Ophelia still sometimes sounds like Oh feel yah which mostly doesn't bother me but still sometimes does bother me.Plus Ophelia seems sad and weak, Octavia seems strong and passionate.

Octavia. It sounds better to my ears. Plus it has a strong/spunky vibe and I find Ophelia to be the opposite. Octavia also has nicer nickname possibilities.

Ophelia. It's in my top five. I like Octavia as well (in theory anyway) but it has a harsh sound that Ophelia doesn't have. The flow of Ophelia is soft and pleasant to me. And it has a lot of vowels. I love vowels. :)

Definitely Octavia. Pity the meaning is so obvious, though I suppose if one really did have seven daughters, Octavia might well be the only possibility left for Number Eight. And Ophelia is such a wimp.

OpheliaIt's prettier to me. Softer. I don't like the "Ock" sound in Octavia.

Ophelia. Octavia has always just sounded cartoonish and unfit for an actual child to me.

OctaviaBecause I've always loved Octavia; it seems very dignified (in a fun way, if that makes sense).Ophelia sounds tragic because I strongly associate it with Hamlet, plus the Oph vaguely reminds me of 'oaf' (it's okay but not something I would pick).
