The match was mostly one of love - it would have been far more beneficial to ally through marriage with the neighbouring countries of Escaia and Corentium, but Cedric and Evaline want their son to be happy, and so permitted the union. The two are living on cloud nine, delighted that the marriage was approved, and the media is in a frenzy. The pretty Hanna is a popular choice for future Queen of Arcya, and every time the royal couple step outside, they're swarmed by journalists. The new century is started on a positive note, with the future looking bright for this kingdom, and our couple.

The incident could easily have been smoothed over, but a tactless politician and translation issues means the situation escalates. Soon, it is not just a question of political alliances, but of national honour and wounded pride. Skirmishes break out between factions around the borders, and when the Arcyian military intervenes, Corentium considers it an invasion and launches a full-scale war. As a sign of solidarity with the common people, Cass serves in the army for several months - Hanna worries about him every single day, but he comes home safe and sound.

A year after ascending to the throne, Cass and Hanna produce heirs - twins girls, Octavia and Linnea, who are born in October. They scrutinise everything about the girls and the King and Queen - does Hanna look pale? Are the girls really the King's daughters? Which of them will succeed their father? Cass and Hanna withdraw from public life for a few months, with Cass's oldest sister Therese taking over most of his ceremonial duties. The girls are both constantly smiling, and their birth brightens up Cass and Hanna's lives considerably.

The twins are highly vulnerable to illness - they're only a year old, after all. So no one is too surprised when Linnea contracts a fever. However, they're all surprised when she almost stops breathing. The physician is sent for immediately. This is clearly not just a child's sickness. It takes her months to recover, and the twins have to be kept separate for weeks, which both of them protest vehemently. Cass and Hanna don't sleep for a month, desperate to know if their baby will survive, and the physician is rewarded richly when she does.
Year 6 (1906) - Family event - Someone is involved in a media scandal
Cass, however good a person he may be fundamentally, was raised in a palace of frivolity and decadence. He's used to having what he wants, when he wants it. Although he really does love Hanna, he's no use at resisting temptation, and after the stress of Linnea's illness, he begins seeing a few other girls behind his wife's back. When the media catches wind of this, they kick up a storm. When Hanna finds out, she simply takes the twins with her to stay at her parents' home in the country, away from Cass, for several months. However, he's genuinely sorry - he regrets his actions, and the couple reconcile. The media, on the other hand, don't forgive so easily, and for years he keeps the reputation of the debauched womaniser.

In the wake of the war with Corentium, Arcya realise how lacking they are in support. And so when their neighbours Escaia offer to ally, they jump at the chance. The country is now a great deal safer - bandits don't dare to raid the border cities now that the armies of two countries patrol.

Although they missed their mother, her memory was already beginnng to fade a little - they were only 4, after all. Both girls clung to Rosa and were exhilarated to be flower girls at the royal wedding. However, the new Queen wasn't too popular with the media - she was considered too intellectual, and this made her a threat to their beloved King Cassius.

Eventually, Cass stepped in, using an archaic rule to appoint himself as head of Government until a suitable replacement could be found. His clear-headedness was praised by some, but others thought that his behaviour was conniving and power-grabbing.

The royal family is growing rapidly! There are now 9 little Princes and Princesses running around the palace with the most recent additions being Artur and Carlotta. Elinor is still very weak, and spends most of her time reading in bed and other such tame activies - the triplets are finally old enough to understand why they can't play with her, and have adapted some of their games to play by her bedside.

Much of Arcya is devasted when heavy rains bring a flood which washes out crops and destroys homes. Emergency aid is sent from Ebur, Escaia and even Corentium, and the death toll is put at around 150. None of the royal family are harmed, however, and publicly devote themselves to the relief efforts.

After May passes away at the grand old age of 12, Octavia and Linnea get another puppy, this time a german shepherd, who they name Alfie. He's very gentle, and plays with all the children, even the largely-bedridden Elinor, who appreciates his presence.

Another girl joins the royal family, Princess Elinor. The media is decidedly less interested in Elinor than the triplets - most of the focus is still on them. However, Cass's mother Evaline is particularly taken with the little girl, perhaps because she is the only single birth so far.
Year 15 (1915) - Political event - A revolutionary group is gathering popularity
The government is increasingly viewed as old-fashioned, out-dated and useless. Many feel it is time for a radical change, and a group with a charismatic young leader is quickly becoming the favourite to deliver that change. They haven't made their position on the monarchy clear, so Cass and Rosa nervously try to keep out of the spotlight for the year, focusing on raising their children.
Year 16 (1916) - Child event - Baby girl

So much for keeping out of the spotlight. It's been two years since the last royal birth, and the media are far more interested in Belle then they were in Elinor. Some commentators say that such a large royal family, and one from two mothers, may lead to divisions in the future, but others speculate that it will instead create unity and strong leaders who aren't afraid to listen to others.
Year 17 (1917) - Family event - Someone is injured or ill
Little Princess Elinor contracts tuberculosis, and again many watch with bated breath, fearing that the royal family may lose another member. Thanks once again to the royal physician, as well as Rosa's devoted bedside vigils, she pulls through, but she is severely weakened. She can barely walk, and is easily exhausted. Mamie, Marsello and Thea are distressed when their parents tell them that they may not play loud games with their little sister anymore, although they're too young to understand why, and the twins are horrified by what the disease did to their half-sister.
Year 18 (1918) - Family event - Someone is involved in a media scandal
Lacking any births or illnesses to report, some unscrupulous reporter instead fabricates rumours that Rosa is in fact a spy for Escaia, and that she cannot be trusted. The 'story' is quickly picked up by other newspapers, and soon the entire country has turned against Rosa. Cass stands by her, as does Evaline, and eventually the storm dies down.

The royal family is growing rapidly! There are now 9 little Princes and Princesses running around the palace with the most recent additions being Artur and Carlotta. Elinor is still very weak, and spends most of her time reading in bed and other such tame activies - the triplets are finally old enough to understand why they can't play with her, and have adapted some of their games to play by her bedside.
Year 20 (1920) - Political event - Natural disaster
Much of Arcya is devasted when heavy rains bring a flood which washes out crops and destroys homes. Emergency aid is sent from Ebur, Escaia and even Corentium, and the death toll is put at around 150. None of the royal family are harmed, however, and publicly devote themselves to the relief efforts.
Year 21 (1921) - Family event - The family gets a pet
After May passes away at the grand old age of 12, Octavia and Linnea get another puppy, this time a german shepherd, who they name Alfie. He's very gentle, and plays with all the children, even the largely-bedridden Elinor, who appreciates his presence.
