[Opinions] Valentine
What do you think of Valentine for a girl? It is kind of popular in France. We pronounce it with an -een ending but I actually prefer the English pronunciation. So what do you think of Valentine (pr. -ine) for a girl?

I love Valentine with either pronunciation. If I used it it'd honor my Pop, born on Valentine's day.It seems more masculine to me but I have no problem with it on a girl. I like Lucy Valentine & Valentine Cecile.

Well ... Valentine rhyme fine is a primarily male name to me. St Valentine, Valentinus. I think the ending like fine is very "strong" - even in Caroline and Clementine it seems so. To me the better feminine name is Valentina, or Valentine rhyme queen. Also Valentine rhyme fine on a woman brings to mind Valentine's Day, flowery pink-romancey images, in a way it just doesn't when it's a man's name. Like, if not for Valentine's Day, it would not work at all for a girl - it'd seem more like Constantine or Augustine would. So it seems just a little bit too imagey and unlikely, like a name for a book character. All that said, I don't hate it. It just doesn't suit my taste genderwise and I prefer Valentina or Valentine rhyme queen.
6/10, about as good as Evelyn, better than Evangeline. Not as good as Vivian f or Caroline.

Thank you for your reply! I actually love the image Valentine gives me. I think of beautiful, colorful flowers. Unlike you I have the exact same association when I hear the name on a man.

I like it, even though I dislike the day! I personally prefer it as a middle for a girl and more as a first for a boy. But in general I think it really makes a combo sound whimsical and fun. It can perk up a more conventional first/middle like Lucy Valentine or Valentine Amy.

Thanks :) I also like it paired with a classic such as Lucy Valentine. That's actually a really great combo.
