[Opinions] Veronica

I think that style of name is due for a comeback. I was recently thinking of Danica and Monica myself.
Veronica from The Archies (there is a remake on Netflix now).
I think Veronica has a punk edge. Ronni could be a nickname, or maybe Veri.
Veronica Blythe
Veronica Shea
Veronica Devon
Veronica Michelle
Veronica Sharon
Veronica Clementine
Veronica Suzanne

I feel like there have been a lot of posts about it, actually.
I like it for its elegance and sultriness. My first thought was that it wasn't dated at all. It didn't seem so to me. I've never known a Veronica of any age. But if you look at its popularity statistics, it was most popular in the 70s and 80s and it's fallen since then. So yes, it's dated. You can't say a name isn't popular or dated because you've never known anyone of the name. You have to go by the statistics.

I'm not a huge fan of it. I used it once, but I don't really like it. Something about it feels bland and ugly to me. I much prefer Victoria. I'm not quite sure if it's dated, though. It sounds relatively modern to me.
It's very dated here, but it was never popular. We don't have a large English-speaking population, and most Catholics aren't English speakers, which might account for it.
I find it unattractive and very inconvenient: it's long, so it'd need a nn, but all the options are NMS. Vera is totally dated, Ron is unattractive on males and worse on females, Nic or Nick or Nicky etc would get lost in all the throngs of Nicole people, and then there's the possibility of someone with a sense of humour doing things with Nica's knickers ...

Where I live, it's Veronique, more used on young women, the oldest I know is about age 30.
The common nick-name is Vero.
Everyone's Catholic here, at least nominally, but that's not why it's somewhat popular, I don't think. Way more lapsed Catholics than observant.

I used the nickname Vero for a character who had the name Veronica. I think it was... basilisk who suggested it, or maybe RoxStar.
Fair enough! I think it's a LOT more dated here in the UK - like I would be amazed to meet a British person under 50 named Veronica, but it seems to get a fair amount of usage in the US and other countries
Definitely very dated. It's the slightly less ugly sister of the repulsive Valerie - heavy, old-fashioned and severe. I hate the 'ron' sound in the middle
I have a Spanish friend who shortens it to Vero which I think is much fresher and prettier

Hi Perrine !!!
Veronica is one of my favourite names. I rate it 10/10.
I love all its meanings (the floreal name, 'she brings victory', 'true image'). It has a long, wonderful history behind it.
In Italy it is very 1990s.
In 1999 were born 1660 Veronica (#34). After that year it decreased very fastly.
In 2015 were born only 432 Veronica (#91) the lowest since '99.
I think it is a good fact. I love this name and I'm glad to see it less popular. Infact if you are a namenerd it is annoying that so many people choose a wonderful name only because it is trendy.
So .. i love it.
