I understand not liking it because it just makes you think of the meaning of the verb. That's one of the reasons I hate Frank--it makes me think of unappetizing boiled hot dogs. But that's different than saying it doesn't work as a name. I can see saying that if someone asked about a word that has no history of being a name, but
Spring does.
