I don't think the pronunciation would be a pain - I've encountered many Cheries, Cherees, Sharees, etc. I would just find it horribly dated if I saw it on a little girl today (makes me think of the 70s and early 80s).
The band Suicide has a good song called "Cheree"... still don't like the name, though.
