Leivars is a variant of Le(i)vers which is derived from Lever and which is from the placename Great or Little Lever in Lancashire. The placename may derive from Old English lǣfere, the plural form of Old English lǣfer ‘rush, reed, iris’. If you go to tinyurl.com/y7mkrn4x and click on England & Wales, you'll see that Leivars and its variants are centered in and around Derbyshire.
