I knew a
Tilda once. She was a teacher (Mathematics) at a very successful school, and her name seemed a little too frivolous for her! But I got used to it.
The only human
Matilda I've known was French and actually
Mathilda with a th and an a. She was always called
Mattie, which suited her just fine.
Then there was my wonderful dog: a rescue dog, probably with a lot of Border Collie and
Scottie in the mix. She was used to her old name so we kept it and mostly called her
Matilda but occasionally
Matt the Mutt. Best dog ever.
I rather enjoy
Tilly, but I've never met one or encountered it IRL so clearly people do avoid it if they want to!
