My mom didn't go through menopause until her late 50s, which apparently is uncommon...hm, I've never really thought about the average age before...It's obviously rare (and maybe risky?) for a woman to have children in her 50s, but it's still naturally possible. I don't think there's anything wrong with it.

Most women start menopause in their 50s and finish by their 60s. I don't know why my mom finished menopause so early, and I find it really odd that I have taken after her in that aspect. For me the only real signs of perimenopause is extremely irregular periods, periods that come closer and closer together and heavier periods. I actually talked to my doctor a few months ago to just check in about this and given my family history and symptoms she concluded that I was perimenopausal.
