[Games] Saphirdufeu’s Royal Congrats - Round 2
Round 1: https://www.behindthename.com/bb/game/4944377Alright, Round 2! 5 years have passed, so the year is 1178 - age everyone up.
Dice: http://www.brockjones.com/dieroller/dice.htmRelationshipsFirst, roll d4 for any relationships - if you roll a 1, the couple is no longer together, due to death or divorce. Roll d10 for everyone over the age of 55, or under the age of 10 - a roll of 8-10 means that that person has unfortunately passed away. Now, roll d10 for everyone over the age of 14 who is single.
If they are aged 15 to 18, a roll from 7-10 is an engagement (but not one which can produce children.)
If they are aged 19 to 25, a roll from 5-6 is an engagement, and 7-10 is a marriage.
If they are aged 26+, a roll from 3-5 is an engagement, and 6-10 is a marriage.
Naturally, a member of the royal family cannot marry a commoner - and so, roll d6 for the title of the noble any royals marry:
1: Baron/Baroness
2: Viscount/Viscountess
3: Count/Countess
4: Duke/Duchess
5: Prince/Princess (of another country)
6: King/Queen (of another country)
Women who marry will take the title of their spouse - men will take the title of their spouse if it is higher than theirs. ChildrenNext up, children! Any children born this round should be under 5 years old, and will take the title of their parents (unless their parents are King & Queen, in which case they are Prince/Princess). Roll d20.
For a potential mother aged 18-23: 1-10 is no children, 11-15 is 1 child, 16-20 is 2 children
For a potential mother aged 24-34: 1-5 is no children, 6-8 is 1 child, 9-14 is 2 children, 15-20 is 3 children
For a potential mother aged 35-45: 1-10 is no children, 11-15 is 1 child, 16-20 is 2 childrenEvents (optional)Roll d10:
1-6: no event
7-8: This Turbulent Priest
The Archbishop of Canterbury, formerly one of your most trusted advisors, has started making trouble. He has started excommunicating those within the Church he disagrees with, as well as some of your current advisors.
9-10: Une Demande En Mariage
Louis VII, King of France, has had a daughter, Princess Agnes. He has proposed a royal marriage between her and one of your sons. If you have a son under the age of 10, you can choose to accept his offer, although the marriage can not produce children for 18 years, when Agnes will be of age.NamesThis round, your own name will determine the namebanks. If the name you go by starts with the letters A-M, use: https://nameberry.com/list/453/Royal-Baby-Names?all=1If it starts with N-Z, use: https://nameberry.com/list/330/Traditional-Baby-Names?all=1(Note: due to a bit of a family emergency, the next round might not be up for a few days - it depends on how things work out. But I promise I’m not abandoning this or anything! Any mistakes or anything will probably be because I’ve had to post this in a bit of a hurry as well.)Du weißt nicht, was du fühlst, weißt nicht, was du suchst, irgendwas weit weg von mirhttp://www.behindthename.com/pnl/185597

- DFiancée [6 months]: Princess Agnes of France
***Four years ago, the Queen has given birth to another son - Prince James. A few weeks ago, King Louis VII of France proposed a royal marriage between James and his infant daughter, Agnes. The offer was readily accepted, since the King was eager to make an alliance with France - his father was at war with the country, and it cost England a lot of money! The King enjoys the Queen's company, but sees her more as a friend that his wife. He has had several mistresses, much to Lucy's dismay. It was only when Prince Edmund went through a bad bout of pneumonia aged 8 that she managed to convince her husband to produce another heir.Since the queen has a lot of time on her hands, she has taken to the arts. Inviting actors to perform at the royal castle caused scandal at first, but the people grew accustomed to it. The King doesn't mind his wife watching a morality play every month or so, as long as she joins him while hunting, and doesn't complain too much about Nell, Jill, or whatever else his new mistress's name was.

DS: Prince Simon Richard Samuel of Wessex (7)Seven years after Prince Simon's birth, Margaret itches for another child. Katherine has reached marriageable age and Alice lingers close behind. Margaret knows mothering best, knows mothering more than anything else, and with her youngest now a hearty seven year old boy, she has less and less to do each day.Since they have a son, family has stopped inquiring about their next child. Prince Simon will follow in his father's footsteps and become the next ruler. However, Margaret puts the pressure on her husband to have another child anyway. He continues to refuse. His refusal time after time has Margaret wondering if perhaps he has a mistress. One evening, she approaches her husband's private chambers where he does his work and spends most of his time, thinking she might catch him with his mistress. She wouldn't mind it, she tells herself, but she would like to know that she doesn't fill her husband's needs. As she draws nearer, muffled sounds creak from the room. Her heart sinks, knowing what this must mean. Gathering her courage, she presses on. Her slight fingers wrap around the door handle and pull it out just enough to peek around. Before she puts her eye to the door, she identifies a voice from the room: one of their servants, Amedeo! Simon doesn't have a mistress; he has--As she realizes why Simon kept the incompetent Amedeo around, Margaret's surprised squeak catches the ears of the men inside the room. Her husband pulls her inside, Amedeo pulling himself together. "You must not tell anyone," the king insists. Margaret nods meekly, keeping her eyes averted from both men. When King Simon releases her, Margaret races back to her own chambers. Only then does she realize the deal she missed: her silence for another child.

Though King Owain believes that their political standing with Spain will eventually place them in a stronger position, he is waiting for the uproar Prince Adam created to die down.
Prince John, not to be outdone by his younger brother, conducted a whirlwind romance with the Countess of Braybury, young Isla. The two of them are engaged to be married in a ceremony not two weeks from now.
Princess Margaret has been engaged to Count James of Shrewsbury since she was sixteen, and the pair will be married just after her eighteenth birthday. Princess Katherine will soon be engaged as well, as is the custom; however, she has not yet found anyone she fancies...at least, no one intelligent enough to suit her preferences.

Louis XII, King of France, proposed that his daughter Agnes marry into the royal family of Northumbria. King Ambrose thought that the match would be unsuitable between Prince Edmund and the baby princess Agnes, since Edmund would be nearly 30 by the time the marriage could take place. The beloved Queen Matilda sadly passed away from a persistent ague two years ago. With only one male heir, Alistair has waited long enough to make another union. Thus, he has become engaged to Baroness ____ of the House of Courteney after many negotiations including an in-person meeting, one of the French lady’s conditions, to which Alistair graciously agreed. The pair seemed to get on well enough and will be wed soon (well enough indeed, by all accounts: there is a shocking rumor that the young Baroness is with child!) Event - Une Demande En Mariage
Upon hearing this rumor, King Louis VII of France, a cousin to the Baroness, jumped at the chance to offer his newborn daughter, Princess Agnes, in marriage to the King and future Queen’s offspring if it proves to be a male child (which a local wise woman has sworn to him–and anyone else that will listen–that it would be if her expertise at tea-reading could predict anything). If there is a child of course. Not that anyone, including Louis, is saying that there is. King Alistair has (secretly, not admitting anything) agreed to the future union.

I went back and added a plot to the first post, so I'll continue here. The Archbishop's Overarching WaysThe Kingdom of Wessex & Mercia has done well in peacetime, now that taxes aren't being used to fund any wars. Nell and Geoff now have two younger siblings: Princess Maud, who is said to be the spit and image of her mother, and Prince James, a "spare" for the throne. Maud and James don't seem to have any usage within their families, so their names surprised the court; it would seem that King Philip I and Queen Edith simply liked the names.Even before her marriage and coronation, Edith had endeared herself to the "small folk," visiting people in the surrounding villages and listening to concerns. Children especially were fond of her. The King and Queen ruled as a united front, and appeared to be on friendly terms, which quelled hopes among the court of inciting distrust between them. Those closest to the throne spread tales of true affection between them - which could both help and hurt their image, depending on how the information is used.King Melchior and Queen Rohesia of Northumbria traveled more than sixty leagues south to visit their daughter (for the first time in nine years) and her family during Michaelmas, and to observe how well she has adopted her new homeland. They deemed King Philip and and their daughter to be more than competent, but relayed to them rumors of the discontent of the Archbishop of Canterbury. Since he had never been on bad terms with the crown before, this confused Philip and Edith, the former writing a cordial letter to the Archbishop inquiring about these rumors.Archbishop Richard* responded curtly, accusing Queen Edith of following the "Pelagian Heresy" and not believing in Original Sin (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pelagianism).

They don't mind it too much, however, as it usually creates a cheery atmosphere, with their childish giggles ringing through the vast halls. Nellie is more curious-minded, and very attentive in her lessons, always asking "Why?". The newest princesses, Victoria and Alexa are thick as thieves and haven't quite gotten to an age where they can be independent, so at the moment, they follow Adeliza wherever she goes. They even attempted to get into the room when James was being born, though their nanny did eventually succeed in distracting them away from the room. The oldest child, Samson, is spending his time learning how to fairly rule a kingdom, learning about military strategy, and learning about diplomacy and trade.

The first thing you noticed about King Richard was his cynicism. He distrusted everyone up until they've proven their worth, after which he'll begrudgingly tolerate them, and he never listened to the inevitable train of sycophants that had sprung up after his coronation. He was naturally suspicious, a difficult thing for the open-hearted idealists in his court to understand, and even harder for the hungry opportunists to deal with.Richard had taken great pains in selecting potential matches for his children before finally settling on two young heirs for his eldest two. Tilly was difficult enough to impress, being a charming and strong-willed girl who'd put alarming ideas about petticoats and steel daggers into action, but Hal, Hal was a different problem. For one thing, he strongly suspected the dagger was Hal's idea to start with. The Prince had inherited all of his father's suspicious nature and combined it with his mother's talent for conversational guile, which made a dangerous cocktail of skills to have. Girls avoided him for fear of being manipulated, even though Richard was sure--well, almost sure; mostly sure--Hal hadn't ever tried anything of the sort.In the end, the young Earl of Arundel, who'd recently inherited the title after his father's regrettable death due to an ill-tamed stallion, was chosen for Tilly. George was as quick with his wits as he was with his sword, and both Richard and Beatrice hoped he would prove an equal match for their daughter. The heir apparent, Hal, surprised his parents by suggesting his betrothal to one of their allies. The Duke of Aquitaine had a daughter about Rufus' age, who was known to be well-mannered and intelligent, if very quiet, and Hal was of the impression that she would be an advantageous match. Which was true, politically, but Richard wondered privately if his son wasn't a bit early in reaching that sort of mindset. Still, a meeting was arranged, both sets of parents agreed on the dowry, and thus Hal and Louise were betrothed, leaving Richard to wonder what will become of his hard-headed children in the future.
