I’ve loved the name ever since I first read the Little House books. Laura’s friend Ida is so sweet and pure and jolly, and the name embodies that for me. I pronounce it like EYE-da.

That's what I thought of, too! That's how I pronounce it, also.
I use to have a Sunday School teacher named Ida, although we always called her Miss Lastname. sometimes she would bring molasses candy, or fudge, to the class. Only sometimes, though!
Very nice person.
I don't really remember what she taught us, but do remember the candy! Typical child.
