Had a doctors appointment today and overheard the name of an infant. Mariana. (This confirmed spelling) Initially I thought they said Ariana. Anyway, any strong opinions? I fell pretty neutral towards the name myself.

I think it's a nice enough name and kind of pretty. I don't really think it's my style though.

Marianne is beautiful.
I have a niece-by-marriage named Maryann, sounds the same, but looks wrong. as if it should be said"Mar-yan".

I used to know a Maryann whose name sounded like Mary Ann. English phonetics!

I like it, mostly because of the trench (otherwise I'd just group it with Maria).

Almost forgot about that. I also associate the name with the band, Marianas Trench (likely named after that) They have a lot of great songs IMO.
