I've bolded my main questions, in case you have no interest in reading my ramblings about
why I like this or that name. :)
I have to admit it: I think Ingeborg is neat. It is to my Norwegian heritage what Christian is to my Swiss: Ingeborg was the first of my Norwegian ancestors to come to the United States. It was also my great-grandmother's first name (the first Ingeborg was
her grandmother, making Ingeborg 1 my...great-great-great-grandmother?), so I feel strong ties to it.
The only problem is that Ingeborg seems like the sort of name the average elementary schooler would make fun of. Perhaps not in my hometown, where it's not uncommon to see Sigrid, Ingrid, Nils, Lars, Signe, etc, but in the world at large? I'm not sure Ingeborg would work. What do you think?
Would little Ingeborg be made fun of? Should I save it as a middle name--Solveig Ingeborg or something? (I don't at all like Inge as a full name, so shortening it wouldn't be an option. And while I like Ingrid a great deal, I wouldn't feel as though I was using a family name, you know? So neither of those are options.)
Also, how do you feel about Ardelia Ruby? It's very similar to my great-great aunt's name (Ruby Cornelia), without being exactly hers reversed. My youngest sister is also a Ruby, so it would be for her as well.
What do you think of Lyle Ray, Juniper Sara, and Ardelia Ruby? ;D
