There's a lake/pond in my area called Walden Pond, so I wouldn't be able to use it without feeling awkward. lol
That's actually what inspired the name, that and the book named after it. I'm a big Thoreau fan.
I'd think 'oh, his parents are Thoreau fans...ok'.
I remember mentioning it in a 'name this hipster baby' thread a few years ago, so I guess it strikes me as a little cliche (eta: in a 'what's the preppiest name I can think of that also has ties to counterculture' kind of way), but I like the sound.
I prefer Waldo.

I like the connotations but I'm not really into the sound.
It makes me think of walnuts. Also it was the name of the new character that appeared in later seasons of Two and a Half Men.
