[Opinions] WDYT of Georgia?
Funny, I have been around for about 10 years (lurking, a lot of the time) and finally have to choose a name for my own baby. :)If it's a girl, I love the name Georgia. To me it's classic and feminine, yet not as popular as something like Charlotte.Opinions on...
Georgia Louise
Georgia Mary
Georgia GraceI love the way Georgia Grace goes together. But, Grace has always been a favorite name of mine, so I am hesitant to use it, in case I would want to use it later on. Mary Grace or Grace are in the running as well for first names.Louise is a family name, as is Mary. My grandmother (Mary Louise) died a few years ago, and all of my cousins' firstborn daughters (there are 5 girls and 0 boys on that side!) have a middle name that is some form of Mary/Marie.
In addition, me, my mom, my MIL, and both of my grandmothers all have L as their middle initial, so it would be nice to keep that going!
Thoughts? Any other names similar to Georgia that you like?

I think Georgia is adorable. My sister wants to use it for her first daughter.I also like Georgiana and I think Georgie is a really cute nickname.I love Georgia Louise and I like Georgia Mary a lot too. Georgia Grace sounds a bit like the full name of a racehorse or something. A graceful horse from Georgia. Also, my friend's extremely extremely southern mom has a golden retriever named Georgia Grace (double name). It just feels a little... Trite? I like Grace on its own and if I were you I'd save it.

I think it’s a beautiful classic.

I absolutely adore the name Georgia. It is a name that I could never get my husband to even consider, so I'm happy to see someone else able to use it. Georgia Louise is adorable

Thank you! Took a while for me to get my husband to like it, but he does. We have a while to go so it could change - I agree that Georgia Louise is adorable.

Georgia is lovely, classic, and wears well with time. I like both Georgia and Georgiana but dislike Georgina and George. Georgia Louise and Georgia Grace flow well.

I like Georgia. It's the only Georg-name that I do like. For some reason, I don't associate it with George. Nor do I associate it strongly with the state. It's just a nice name. It's not prissy like Georgina. I like the combo with Grace. I don't think you should "save" it. It's the inevitable fate of first children of their gender, to get named with whatever Mom and Dad have been saving up their whole lives, and younger siblings get named by people who have some experience naming. Anyway, if you really wanted to you could have a Georgia Grace and a Grace Mary Louise or whatever. It's not a big deal IMO.I don't think the middle initial L thing is a reason to choose a name (ymmv). I guess if you need a tiebreaker. Georgia Louise sounds alright... but I like Georgia Grace more.

I've mentioned above, my SIL was named Georgette. The also had a brother named Georges (French form.)The two "George" names were not a co-incidence-their mother had a strong devotion to Saint George (of the dragon fame.)
My husband tells me that, rather than birthday parties for these two siblings, they had a joint party on St.George's Day. A much looked-forward-to event.

Georgia is my name and I love it. It is classic, strong and something most people have heard before, yet it isn't common.I don't know where you are. I'm in the US and I'm old. The only thing I want to let you know is that you will encounter people who don't know how to pronounce it if they just see the name written down. You will hear "george-EE-ah," most likely. You also will encounter people (usually young people) who don't know how to spell Georgia, and you will have to spell it out for them. The spelling out is a relatively new phenomenon. When I was young, I did not have to spell it out, but now there are many people who do not know the spelling. My mother gave me her maiden name as my middle. Much later, she commented, "Why didn't I name you Georgia Louise -- that sounds nice!" Of your combos I like them in this order:Georgia Louise
Georgia Mary
Georgia Grace.

Aw, I love that! Thanks for sharing your story! We are in SC, but I am not from the south originally, so it is kind of a different name than most people I know would use. Most people I know are using trendy names.

I love Georgia, my only hesitation for using it is I always think of the state. There’s nothing wrong with the state or anything, I just don’t really like using names of states and countries (and then there’s the country Georgia) very much. But besides that, it’s a really nice name. Georgia Louise is such a classic Southern sounding name.
Georgia Grace is pretty, but since you say it’s a big favorite of yours I agree that it might be better to save it.
Georgia Mary is very nice, too

Not a bug fan of Georgia, but I do like the alliteration and sound of Georgia Grace. I also like the idea of 2 middles.
I can’t suggest anything I like with Mary, it’s probably one of my top ten most disliked names, but as a family name, I understand... but I love Louise.
Georgia Louise Grace? Georgia Grace Louise?

If you love a name, I wouldn't "save it for later". What if this baby is a girl and she turns out to be your only daughter?I'm afraid I really don't care much for Georgia at all. I prefer Georgina, for me, Georgina is elegant and pretty but firm. Georgia to my ears is more ugly and harsh. However, trying to put that biased aside, let me give you some help on naming this baby!I like the alliteration of Georgia Grace; they're both names you love - so win win! Easy baby name!If you want to honour though, I'm afraid either Georgia or Grace has to go out the window - unless you want to use two middle names?
Georgia Mary Grace
Mary Grace Louise
Georgia Mary Louise
Mary Grace Georgia
Are all viable options. My pick would be Georgia Mary from your original combos.
