I knew a Jewish woman whose English mn was Penelope, and she used Pnina as the mn for liturgical purposes, when she was operating in a Hebrew-speaking context. (Her fn was Ann, so that easily became Channah.) She knew that the words were not even slightly related, but apparently just using something with a similar sound or initial worked fine.I like it: it seems both elegant and energetic! ETA I don't enjoy Pearl at all.
