[Opinions] Norman
I just got a list of my daughter's classmates. They were pretty typical - Hadley, Madison, Easton, etc - save for Norman.
Thoughts? It's pretty hipster, I think, but it's cool. Siblings Floyd and Ethel.

Awww, if I met a little Norman it would be an effort not to scoop him up and cuddle him to bits. On an adult, I think it handsome. I don’t think of, nor do I care about, the fictional Mr. Bates. If it helps to have a more positive reference/association, there’s Norman Maclean, author of “A River Runs Through It”.
Major oops
Thanks to a very overtired brain I stated that the siblings were Ethel and Floyd. I meant to say that it sounded very hipster and I wouldn't be surprised if siblings were named Ethel and Floyd. I apologize. I flew back late on Saturday night and had to go straight back to real life. Really confusing and I'm really sorry

Just makes me think of Norman Bates. I like my fair share of old people names but Norman, Floyd, and Ethel are like the child-naming equivalent of wearing Crocs ironically.
Poor kids.

Not my style, but it sure is refreshing to see these days. Eons better than Hadley!
I think I just puked a little. Norman, Floyd and Ethel. Nope, not for me.

I don't like it. It sounds unnatractive, awkward and geeky. (Very much like the name 'Melvin' for example)
And I can't shake the 'Norman Bates character' association, played by Anthony Perkins and then Fredie Highmore in the miniseries, Bates Motel.
Norman, Floyd and Ethel is a rather unfortunate set in my opinion.

Wow, what a sibset! I adore Ethel, really like Norman, and appreciate Floyd.
I like it, though I prefer the form used where I live, Normand.
Floyd-I like Lloyd better.
Ethel-It's really seen as ugly, and that's how I feel. Seems it was once considered very useable.
My mother had a cousin named Ethel.

Is it hipster? It sounds old mannish to me, and the siblings ‘names seem dated as well , although maybe those names are shifting from dated to old fashioned?
I love Norman! It does sound hipster, but the only young one I know is my good friend's 11yo. And they're not hipster. His brother has a "hipster" name too. Heh.
Hi !!!
Am I the only one who love a sibset like Norman, Ethel and Floyd compared to all these modern stuff?
It is a gorgeous sibset! Names are simple and short enough but not nicknamey.
The whole sibset seems very British. Ethel is the best: classic with a neat sound and simple meaning. Floyd is stylish and Norman well.. strong and safe.

Floyd! I'm susceptible to that kind of "hip".
Norman is alright. I just don't care for No- names and I think it's too surnamey. I think Ethel is unappealing, probably because it reminds me of chemicals (ethyl-).

Oh man. As much as I truly dislike Hadley and Madison and company, I think Norman is awful. Floyd and Ethel? It sounds like a roll call for breakfast at a home for Seniors.
I think it sounds very elderly, and I can only think of the Norman conquest.
Ha! Love Norman, Floyd, and Ethel on little kids (and old folks too lol).
