[Opinions] WDYTO Marnie?
I heard the name Marnie the other day and I kind of like it. Thoughts?

I really like Marnie too, the meaning of it is lovely.
As a nn, no doubt it's fine. As a full name in its own right, no. Too juvenile and flimsy, as well as being dated.
It's not a favorite, but it brings to mind a few other names I like (so I like it by association). I'd group...
Myrna, Mildred, Muriel, Marlene, Marjorie, Melanie, Marnie, Moira, Marsha
Other than that, I'm associating it with:
1. the Hitchcock movie; beehive hairstyles
2. the song "I Want To Marry A Lighthouse Keeper" - I guess because it sort of looks like 'mariner'??

I really like the name Marnie, I think it’s sweet.
I'm not sure why I dislike it as much as I do. I think it sounds dowdy, angry, mannish, and dated (reminds me of Barney and Manny). It looks little bit like "meanie," and sounds a little bit like "carny" and "smarmy" ...
I don't know, I think really it just boils down to personal aesthetics. I don't like it and therefore I could find a lot of things not to like about it. I usually like Mar- names ... just not Marnie. I feel like stylewise, it seems antique, like Myrtle and Bessie and Hattie.

It’s cute! It reminds me of the book/movie “When Marnie Was There” and also a poem I like. I always thought of it as a younger name, but then I met an old lady with that name in March!
I think of Hitchcock's movie.
I absolutely love it, but I’m not sure I’d ever use it. It seems very nicknamey, and I’ve never found a longer verson I like enough.
Every time this name is brought up, I tell how I knew a Marnie who was so named because her parents considered it a mash-up of their names, Marguerite and Ernie.
It's okay. I like it. It's cute. Nuff said.
