My grandmother is a Leptic, but I knew that was shortended at Ellis Island. We were told of her great grandmother leaving the harbor in Budapest at 13 and finding a husband on the boat on her way to America. When I did more research, I found that the name derived from Leiptich, or Lieptizc.. most concentrated from an area of Romania, which would make sense given the story.
