Here in Poland, Malwina (mal-VEE-na) is kind of an "old lady name", and since Malvina is pronounced the same way, I can't help but find it elderly sounding too.

Statistics show though that the name in Poland is still being used. It's under 70 in popularity.

I'm not that keen on it, because "mal" means bad in Welsh, and I can't really get past the association of "mal" being a negative thing. The sound is nice if you strip that away. I wouldn't use it though, because of it's being made up.
